Individual counselling

Individual counselling and psychotherapy

Individual counselling and Radix Body Centred Psychotherapy facilitate awareness for change, growth, healing and connection with self and others. These therapeutic processes bridge the physical, psychological and spiritual, and integrate thinking, feeling and willing (behaviour).

Radix Body Centred Psychotherapy is an energetic process of powerful personal development. Radix is a unique approach to psychotherapy. It makes use of verbal therapy, vision, breath, sound, movement and touch, assisting you to fully engage with life. This approach takes the counselling process to a deeper level exploring patterns of behaviour, childhood upbringing and past experiences that are impacting on the current situation.

Radix is particularly useful when there is a physical or emotional component to the issues you are having  (e.g., depression, anxiety, anger), or when a cognitive approach has been insufficient. Counselling and Radix Psychotherapy work powerfully with issues such as:

      • Anxiety
      • Grief and loss
      • Depression
      • Anger issues
      • Stress
      • Abuse and trauma
      • Panic attacks
      • Sexuality issues
      • Confidence and assertion
      • Body tension
      • Personal growth and development
      • Aliveness and wellbeing
      • Purpose
      • Vision, and
      • goal setting.

Individual sessions (Counselling and Psychotherapy)

Counselling/Psychotherapy sessions can be scheduled on an ongoing weekly or bi-weekly basis; less frequent sessions are available (however progress can sometimes be slower). Sessions are available both during the daytime and in the evening. The duration of a session is generally 60 or 90 minutes.

Telephone/Skype consultations

Telephone/Skype consultations are available in conjunction with ongoing counselling/psychotherapy sessions. These types of sessions can be accessed when clients are away on holidays, overseas or unable to attend a regular session due to a car break down etc. (Please note Phone call costs are payable by the client, and the same session fees apply with a telephone consultation.)

After session care

It can be an important time, the time immediately after your session, a time of integration. After your session try to arrange for some space to just be, avoid rushing back into the often hectic pace of life.

Some supportive things you can do post session are:
• Go for a walk in nature, feeling your feet in contact with the ground (maybe even take off your shoes and go barefoot!!)
• Take a bath
• Journal writing
• Drink lots of fresh clean water
• Extend the time you are aware of your breath, be with yourself by following your breath. Breathe fully and deeply
• If you are feeling vulnerable, take care of the parts of you that feel this. Cover or cushion them, touch, stroke, pat or gently squeeze them.
• Rest, lie down and have a nap if feeling tired after your session. Listen to your body.
• Remember the exercises that support your process and do some or one of them again.

Be with, nurture and love yourself!

Review of work

Ongoing therapeutic work includes review sessions from time to time. Reviews give an opportunity and time for both the client as well as the therapist to look at where they have come from, where they are heading, redefine and clarify goals as well as assess the therapist/client fit.

Completion of work

Closure is an important stage in the therapeutic process. Supporting the client in the closure process is just as important as supporting them in opening to and developing the therapeutic relationship. Therefore it is important to give as much notice as possible of the intention to complete/close your work with me. This enables me to plan a productive and complete closing session, giving the best possible opportunity for you to leave your work with me well.
